What are the benefits of merino wool?

Wool can absorb up to 15 % of its own weight in water, without feeling wet. It has a particularly soft feel to the skin and significantly less odor build-up.

How much merino wool is used in these socks?

The lining of these socks includes 45 % high-quality, mulesing-free merino wool. Together with synthetic fibers, we have created a durable, breathable, and easy-care inner liner.

Why do I still have cold feet despite thick, wool socks?

Please consider: These are deep winter socks. If it is so cold outside that you will need winter socks, it is also cold enough that you will need overshoes. It is important to always consider your entire clothing choice. The way our body works is optimized to save life-critical organs in our upper body. That means if you go out in winter and dress too lightly around your upper body, it will automatically direct the warm blood from uncritical parts of your body (arms, hands, legs, feet) to your upper body. Consequently, if you use thick gloves, socks and overshoes, make sure that you dress the rest of your body accordingly.

Why do I still have wet feet?

These are wind- and waterproof socks, so ideally, you shouldn’t have wet feet. Firstly, though, don’t be concered if the outer fabric gets wet, as the membrane beneath will shield your feet from water. If you still have wet feet, this could have two main reasons. Either, your feet are so far submerged in water that it seeps in from the top, which we can’t entirely eliminate. But as a general rule, never submerge the socks deeper than they are high. The second reason could be sweat trapped inside – this can happen during high intensity activities over a prolonged period of time. It also depends on the type of shoes and possibly even overshoes you’re wearing. The good thing is, though, that even if damp, the socks will keep your feet warm, provided you’re not inactively standing around and therefore not producing any body temeprature.

Will I fit in my road or MTB cycling shoes?

Please be aware that these socks don’t have the same stretch characteristics as non-waterproof socks. It also means that they are ticker than normal Coolmax socks. If your shoes are already on the tight end of the scale with thin socks, then these might not fit comfortably. We have tried these socks with established cycling shoes like the Gaerne G.Stilo road and Gaerne G.Syncro MTB shoes. While there is less wiggle room in the shoes with these waterproof socks on, we could still wear them comfortably.
