This is a great piece of personal survival kit and provides peace of mind for your passengers. Boaters often comment that due to the splash or spray of water that is routinely associated with onboard activity, these type of devices tend to activate too easily. 
Fact is, the device is designed that way on purpose and for good reason! You want it to work once you go overboard. While it does have an “off switch” for just that type of scenario, our work around solution and boating tip is that in these cases, we recommend you use a clear baggie to seal around the electric contacts, so it’s protected from spray, but will flood instantly and activate when needed. 
The permanently sealed battery is not replaceable and this model’s battery expiration date is in July 2027.
